BISS Ch Cedarpoint's Lady of the Lake

REPORT ON THE ASSOCIATION OF RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK FANCIERS OF WESTERN ONTARIO SPECIALTY SHOW.

ARRF's second Specialty Show for Rhodesian Ridgebacks was held on June 18, 2000 near London, Ontario, Canada.

We were honored that Barbara Sawyer Brown agreed to judge our Regular and Non-Regular classes and that Diane Blackwood agreed to judge the Sweeps, Veteran Sweeps and Junior Handlers. Canadian Barbara Scott judged the Obedience Trial and Junior Obedience Trial.

Friday and Saturday were beautiful sunny days at the show site, but Sunday, the day of our Specialty dawned wet, really wet! Vehicles were getting bogged down and it was hard to even walk to the ring at 7:00 a.m. to set things up, but the soggy Dankners were already there trying to put out the impressive trophies purchased by Jacquie Dankner for the Club.

Our Obedience Trial ring was inside the arena - in the dry! Jacquie and Stewart Dankner and I made an executive decision to hold the whole show inside after the trial was completed. We started the Sweeps a little late after the obedience finished - but at least we were all out of the torrential rain.

It was the first R.R. Specialty Obedience Trial and Junior R.R. Specialty Obedience Trial in Canada. This year there were only six entries, but all acquitted themselves very well and we hope that in 2001 there will be a larger entry. One Junior, 15 year old Hilary Culp, entered with a dog she just met that morning - and achieved an amazing score of 195!

Diana Blackwood then judged the 14 entries in the Sweepstakes classes and the three entries in the Veteran Sweepstakes.

Barbara Sawyer Brown judging the forty entries in the Regular classes and the four entries in the Non-Regular classes followed her.

Throughout the day, Pam Roath manned a rescue booth, giving out information and selling items.

Nancy Rumble had organized and also manned the hospitality table full of scrumptious goodies.

As well as exhibitors, we very pleased that there were present many guests who had come considerable distances to support our venture. People such as Butch and Sherri Cobb and Michelle Armstrong all from Michigan and with their dogs were at ringside cheering on the exhibitors.

Altogether it was felt that it was a successful day and now we need to start thinking about our Specialty 2001.
