Versatility Program

We are very pleased to announce ARRF's new Versatility Program!

It is our hope that this will encourage further training – which in turn, will not only improve the handler/dog bond, but will also help create better canine citizens.

This award will recognize those who have worked very hard with their canine partners to achieve several certificates. It also demonstrates trainability of the ridgeback.

Where possible we would like to promote Canadian Titles, (after all this is a Canadian Club), however, if there is no Canadian equivalent title we will accept an AKC title.

Here is how the program works:

Step 1:

Your dog must pass a CGC (Canine Good Citizen) or the new CKC version “Good Neighbour” test. (*as the good neighbour test is not yet as readily available, we will accept the AKC’s CGC certificate.)

This testing helps to ensure that the dog has had some level of obedience training.

Step 2:

Earn titles in any of the activities listed below:

*      Conformation

*     Obedience

*      Agility

*      Tracking

*      Racing (Cdn straights/oval/u-val or US – JC/SC)

*      Herding Instinct

*      Draft Dog

*      Therapy Dog (St Johns or TDI)

*      Flyball

Step 3:

Submit copies of your certificates along with the application form to;

Levels:

Each certificate earned equals 1 point towards your Versatility Title.

* higher levels such as CDX, TDX, etc can only be used towards level 3 titles and higher.

PREREQUISITE: CGC or Good Citizen Certificate does not count as a point towards your title but must be included with your application.

 For example: Ch RR Xtrordinaire CD, CGC, TDI, HIC…..would be eligible for level 2 only…even though this dog has 4 titles plus it’s CGC…level 3 requires 5 titles.

Certificates will be issued once a year at the AGM. The recipients will be awarded a certificate and have their names and photos published in the newsletter and on the club web site.

I think we all understand how much effort is required to attain these titles and this should be celebrated.
